Une bobine is a Kickstarter success story. The project started by FuseChicken needed $9800 to make the product a reality and ended up receiving $212,265 with 4541 backers.
Une Bobine can be best described as an iPhone charging and syncing cable with a twist. That twist comes from the fact that the cable is actually made from a strong, bendable material. You can bend, twist and position it in many different ways, it's even strong enough to hold your iPhone sideways for landscape viewing. The Une Bobine works just well whether you are using it connected to your Mac or MacBook or even as a free standing tripod for your iPhone. Une Bobine connects via a standard USB, the same that can be found on standard iPhone chargers, so if you have something with a USB port you can probably connect your Une Bobine to it!
The cable is designed specifically for the iPhone 4S and previous versions of the iPhone and iPod touch that use a 30-pin connector. iPhone 5 users fear not, before the end of 2013 we should see an iPhone 5 specific version that will come fitted with a lightning connector. In the mean time the current 30-pin version does include an iPhone 5 adapter but this offers limited functionality. So if you like the Une Bobine but have an iPhone 5 (or iPhone 5S or iPhone 6) then we advise you to wait for the new version in the coming months. Positioning the Une Bobine to hover at the side of your iMac can be quite tricky at first. There are a multiple ways to do this but we had the best luck by twisting the Une Bobine over itself to provide extra support, as seen below.
Alternatively, you can rest the cable on your desk, as below, this provides a lot more stability and provides the same function. Although may not appear quite as cool!
Une Bobine works just well with MacBooks and if anything you can actually do more in terms of positioning due to the USB port being closer to the desk, thus allowing for more stability.
So what exactly can I do with the Une Bobine? Well, below is a list of possible uses for your Une Bobine, we are sure there are many more we haven't yet thought of yet but these should get you started.
Connect it to your iMac's or MacBook's USB port to use as a second screen for emailing, FaceTime, twitter stream….
